Echo Movement and Throne Gone Down bring reggae music to local venue on Wednesday

About a dozen times each year, an unmistakable rhythmic beat resonates from the corner of Coventry Road and Euclid Heights Boulevard.

This unique mix of catchy offbeat chords and positive vibes wafts up the Grog Shop’s staircase and pours into the streets of Cleveland Heights – thousands of miles from its origin in Kingston, Jamaica, and its rebirth in Southern California.

Today’s brand of reggae defies traditional stereotypes associated with the genre, geographically and otherwise. Greater Cleveland has developed a niche reggae scene thanks to reggae-friendly venues like the Grog Shop and annual festivals like the recently-completed Midwest Reggae Fest, held each August, 45 miles east of Cleveland in Nelson. Reggae concert-goers at the Grog Shop typically reflect the same cultural, ethnic and age diversity for which Cleveland Heights is known.

Benefit Show - Saturday Jan 8th

We will be participating in a benefit show for some people lost everything in a fire this past week. Thankfully they were able to save their 3 dogs but nothing else. The benefit show will raise money or to help get them household items or clothing. There is no good time for something like this to happen, but we can't imagine how hard it must be this time of year.

It is by far one of our favorite bars to play open mic! The Bailey Road Tavern is located out in Cuyahoga Falls OH. You will be greeted by the lovely bar tender Shannon and if your lucky you'll be greeted by her dog also. There is an Open Mic Night there every Sunday, so if you have any musical skills we will see you there!

Busy Weekend

Last weekend was a pretty busy for us. Friday night, we played a show at the hookah bar, which went well thanks to Jacob's help with sound, and to the cool lights we got to use. After that, we had to wake up early on Saturday morning to go to the TV studio to film for the Jukebox Show by AVW Productions.
